Road trip to Wakulla Springs State Park where we took a boat ride along the spring fed Wakulla River. Our boat trip started at the source, so the water was especially clear, and we had close up views of alligators, turtles, manatees, and a variety of birds. Flow rate of the spring is 200–300 million US gallons of water a day. The park really looks like a jungle and in fact was the filming location for the Johnny Weissmuller "Tarzan" movies.
When we bought our tickets the guide asked if we minded sharing our boat with a local kindergarten class...we loved it.
This is just one of the 13 or 14 alligators that we saw. Would you believe they have a swimming area here!
Along the way to the state park, we stopped at a truck grade yard and checked out the old Fords!
After our boat tour we had lunch at the Wakulla Springs Lodge, built in 1937 and still the epitome of Southern elegance. The Po Boys were delicious.
